DRIVING DIRECTIONS
From North — Interstate 80:
Stay left on I-80 in Emeryville, but not farthest left lane—it is carpool only lane to SF. Take MacArthur Freeway I-580 Hayward exit, then merge to right lane and take Berkeley/Walnut Creek Hwy. 24 exit. Take 51st /Martin Luther King exit (exit is to the right just as connector ramp straightens out), bear left (under freeway) onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Way and right on 58th Street. You will pass the Children’s Hospital Research Center on your right before you get to 58th Street (Large Pink Building). The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right side before you get to Dover Street.
From Central Contra Costa County — Hwy 24:
Take Telegraph Avenue exit. Turn left on Telegraph and right on 54th Street. Turn right again at Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Right on to 58th Street. You will pass the Children’s Hospital Research Center on your right before you get to 58thStreet (Large Pink Building). The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right side before you get to Dover Street.
From South — Nimitz Freeway (880):
Follow signs for I-980 to Berkeley/Walnut Creek Hwy. 24. Exit at 51st/Martin Luther King, bear left (under freeway) onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Way and right on 58thStreet. You will pass the Children’s Hospital Research Center on your right before you get to 58thStreet (Large Pink Building). The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right side before you get to Dover Street.
From South via Interstate 580:

From San Francisco — Bay Bridge:
Stay in right three lanes coming off the bridge. Take MacArthur Freeway I-580 toward Hayward, exit Berkeley/Walnut Creek Hwy. 24. Take 51st/Martin Luther King exit (exit is to the right just as connector ramp straightens out), bear left (under freeway) onto Martin Luther King, Jr. Way and right on 58thStreet. You will pass the Children’s Hospital Research Center on your right before you get to 58thStreet (Large Pink Building). Public Transportation:
The closest BART station is the MacArthur BART station (www.BART.gov for more information). There is a shuttle that picks up at the MacArthur Bart Station approximately every 20 minutes. The shuttle is a white van with the Children’s Hospital Oakland Logo on the side. It will take you to the main hospital as well as to the Research Institute, just tell the driver where you are going.
Shuttle directions from the Main Hospital:
If you are at the Main Hospital, proceed to the front desk on the 1stfloor and ask the security attendant to call for a passenger pick up to “CHORI.” A driver will pick you up within 15 minutes and take you to the new building.
Walking directions from the Main Hospital:
Take a left turn out of the main hospital building and a right turn onto Martin Luther King Jr. Way. Proceed on MLK for approximately 8 blocks till you reach 58thStreet. You will pass the Children’s Hospital Oakland Research Institute on your right before you get to 58th Street (Large Pink Building). The entrance to the parking lot will be on your right side before you get to Dover Street.
